    I just had a miscarriage and I am devastated. I don't know what to do and how to deal with this situation. Please help as I want to know my options to make sure I can still conceive. I am 42 years and will like to have a baby, is IVF or egg donation my option moving forward?

    "Dear Monica,

    My heart goes out to you. It is sad to hear about your miscarriage. A miscarriage is the unplanned end of a pregnancy before the baby can live outside of the womb. It is a sudden and unexpected change but it should not be the end of the world for you. No one can tell you how to respond to your miscarriage. If you have been trying to have a child, this loss may be overwhelming but don't be discouraged. Wait until you have healed and try again if you'd like. Miscarriages can cause a sudden drop in your hormone levels. This is likely to produce mood swings or make your emotions more extreme. You will need your partner to be there and support you in such situations.

    You need to take care of your body: do gentle stretches to ease tension. Eat and sleep enough to let your body recover. Once you feel better talk to a board certified fertility doctor for your options to have a successful pregnancy. There are several fertility treatment options your doctor will suggest. Starting from less aggressive fertility medications to IUI to advanced reproductive technology treatment like in vitro fertilization (IVF). Before moving forward with any fertility treatments please do some test to reduce the chances of miscarriage again.
