Male Factor Infertility

Posted July 14, 2016 in Blog

Infertility has long been considered a female issue, so it might be surprising to learn that in approximately 40% of infertile couples, the male partner is either the sole or contributing cause.

Problems with male fertility generally fall into two categories – productive or obstructive. Issues with sperm production can be either congenital (present from birth), or as a result of hormone issues, exposure to certain environmental toxins, or cancer.

Problems with obstruction are issues that prevent the sperm from reaching the semen and can occur from surgery, infection or a congenital defect. A specialist can help diagnose and treat these issues, whether through medication, surgery or through assisted reproductive technology, including IVF. If you are struggling with infertility, please call Dr. Peyman Saadat’s office at 310.929.6707. We will be honored to help you become the parent you were meant to be.
