3 Ways to Increase Your Chance of a Successful IVF Cycle

The age of first time moms continues to increase – which means that more and more couples are turning to IVF to help.   Once considered a last resort, IVF is now becoming more and more routine.  So how likely are you to be successful with IVF?   While a lot depends on factors that are outside of your control, such as age, there are some things that you can do to improve your chances during an IVF cycle.

  1. Destress!!   Sort of a tough one, when you are worried about getting pregnant!  But it’s not about being completely stress free.  Rather, take time out of every day to relax and focus on what makes you happy in the moment.  Try and let go of things that are out of your control, and try to take note of all the good things in your life, even if it’s as simple as a pretty flower, or favorite piece of music.
  1. Establish a healthy weight and exercise pattern.  We all know that exercise is healthy, but just like with anything in life, moderation is key!  Aim for cardio 3 times a week, and add in some light weightlifting on a couple of the days in between.  As to weight, the ideal time to focus on getting to a healthy BMI is before you begin fertility treatment, not during.  Keep in mind though that just as being overweight can decrease chances of IVF success, being underweight can have a negative impact as well.
  1. Consider the role vitamins and supplements can play.  There have been many studies that show certain vitamins and supplements can have a significant impact on fertility, particularly on egg quality and production.  Dr. Saadat has long been a believer in the power of natural ingredients as an aid to fertility treatment, and has developed a specific list of supplements for both women and men, that have proven highly successful for his patients.
